If Taylor Swift fans aren’t sold on her upcoming role in Cats, this brand-new video will surely do the trick.
In honor of the release of the first official trailer on Friday, Universal Pictures is teasing a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming movie.
The three-and-a-half-minute video shows Swift talking about her involvement in the film—like how she was born to play a “theatrical” role.
“My first memories of performance go back to Pennsylvania when I was growing up,” Swift says in the featurette. “My favorite thing was getting to be theatrical, to tell a story, and I’ve always brought that sort of narrative element to my live shows.”
When asked about the new version, Swift confirms that it will provide a modern take on the story we know and love. “We got to update it in ways that I think are just so, so great,” she added.
The video also shows several of Swift’s co-stars—including Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, Jason Derulo, Judi Dench, James Corden and Rebel Wilson—discussing how their careers led them to this moment.
“I was cast in 1981,” Dench explains. “Just before we opened, I snapped my Achilles tendon, and I thought that that was my history with Cats. But it turns out not to be.”
Talk about a star-studded cast.
