Beats By Dre Drops New Studio Buds With Amazing Sound Quality and ANC: Early Reviews, Release Date, Pros & Cons

Beats By Dre just revealed its newest collection of wireless earbuds, releasing the Beats Studio Buds for presale. This latest drop, which hit Apple stores on Monday, June 14 and is available for delilvery starting Friday, June 25, offers high-quality audio in a sleek, lightweight design that comfortably sits in the ears for easy use and listening. Customers can pre-order the new Studio Buds now.

Available in three colors: black, white, and red, the new earbuds come equipped with active noise cancellation and easy one-touch pairing with iOS and Android devices. With eight hours listening time per charge, these can play up to 24 hours total, with two additional charges provided by its pocket-sized charging case. And they are additionally waterproof and sweat-resistant, so there won’t be any worries of damage during intense workouts. That’s a feature usually found only in high-end premium earbuds.

Although there wasn’t much pre-promotion for this release, the Beats Studio Buds were first seen on NBA baller Lebron James, who wore them on court before a late May playoff game against the Phoenix Suns. Beats also recently shared a short commercial featuring rapper Roddy Ricch to introduce the new bud collection.

Each bud set comes with soft silicone ear tips in three sizes: small, medium, and large for a comfortable fit that you can customize as desired.

Beats Studio Buds: The Early Reviews

Overall, the early reviews of the new Studio Buds are positive, with a few important caveats.

The Positives:

• Excellent sound quality for music and phone calls (some reviewers say they offer superior sound to Apple AirPods Pro)

• Even Samsung Galaxy Buds win out on ANC technology and call quality

• $150 price tag doesn’t qualify these as budget wireless earbuds

Early reviews for the product by CNN Underscored state, “Studio Buds feature a wide soundstage that works for a variety of genres, but they shine with bass and energetic sound mixes. Fast pair Android and iOS is really clutch, and a first for earbuds.”

Chance Miller with 9to5Mac reports that the more compact design of the Studio Buds is both a pro and a con. Unlike the popular Powerbeats Pro, the Studio Buds don’t have a hook-design to keep the buds in place, but that that redesign results in a more compact product. “If it were me, I’d choose the compact and in-ear design of Beats Studio Buds over the larger and ear hook design of Powerbeats Pro,” writes Miller.

Meanwhile, CNET writes that the new Studio Buds win out over the AirPods Pro in terms of audio quality.

When compared to AirPods or Galaxy Buds, CNN Underscored states, “Studio Buds are more comfortable with better sound at $149.99. Sound is on par here with Powerbeats Pro.” They continue, adding, “AirPods Pro, Galaxy Buds Pro, and Sony WF-1000XM4 zoom past these with better noise-canceling chops and more powerful microphones for better call quality. The WF-1000XM4 zero in on audio quality with the ability to customize the mix to your liking. Still, Studio Buds stand as a well-rounded pair of earbuds that don’t lock you into an ecosystem for $149.99.”

All-in-all, these sound like another major winner from the Beats by Dre collection, and are a great option for people who love Apple and Beats products. Purchase them on Apple’s website or other large tech retailers like Target for $149.99.
