In a world filled with trendy vegan restaurants, vegan fast food, and endless vegan recipes, dairy-free options are everywhere. Unsurprisingly, there's a MAJOR demand for vegan ice cream. Over 60,000 people are searching for recipes every month! But if you don't want to make your own, most major scoop shops are now offering dairy-free options, including the largest chain of them all: Baskin-Robbins. What a time to be a vegan.

“Ices” and sorbets are nothing new on the menu. But with plant-based foods increasing in popularity (sales have increased by 31% in the past two years) their two new flavors, Non-Dairy Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Non-Dairy Chocolate Extreme, are made with a coconut oil and almond butter base. According to the company, they’re without preservatives, high fructose corn syrup, and artificial dyes and flavors, too.

If you're wondering why it's taken so long for Baskin Robbin's to embrace the trend, director of research and development Jeanne Bolger says, “The Baskin-Robbins culinary team has been hard at work on our non-dairy flavors for over two years [...] It was important for us to take the time to get it right.”

You can find the new flavors at Baskin-Robbins starting on August 1. And, if you're not ready to commit to buying a cone filled with their vegan cookie dough just yet, you can sample a free 1-ounce scoop of both flavors on Sunday, August 4 from 3-7 p.m. at participating locations.
