Here's Engadget's list of back to school must-haves

It’s almost time for college students to hit the books, and decide which supplies they need for the semester’s classes.

Engadget Editor-in-Chief Dana Wollman shares her top back to school product picks with Yahoo Finance’s Zack Guzman on YFi PM.

MacBook Pro

Product: MacBook Pro

Price: $1,299

Wollman says: Engaget has been doing a back to school guide for nearly a decade. Something have changed. Some things haven’t. Things that haven’t changed: laptops.

We have a whole bunch of laptops in our guide — gaming laptops, some Windows machines too — but we took a look at the MacBook Pro just because Apple just refreshed it.

The entry level Macbook Pro is interesting. It used to be, if you got the entry level MacBook Pro, you were missing out on the fingerprint reader, which in my opinion, is the best thing these days.

Boosted Mini S

Product: Boosted Mini S

Price: $750

Wollman says: This is a new addition to Engaget’s back to school guide. In years past, we didn’t have an electric vehicles section, but now we do.

E-scooters are probably the most versatile for most people. This model here goes at a top speed of 18 miles-per-hour. At the same time, it is fairly compact and portable so you can store it in...an overhead bin if you are going to and from college across the country. We recommend this for more warm weather schools.

Instant Pot
Instant Pot

Product: Instant Pot

Price: $60

Wollman: We took the idea of a smart home and figured hey, the dorm can be smart too.

For cooking, we recommend the Instant Pot, which has become a darling of the cooking world in general. It’s great for students because all you need is an electric outlet. It serves multiple purposes like a slow cooker or pressure cooker.

Oculus Quest
Oculus Quest

Product: Oculus Quest

Price: $399

Wollman: We have a whole bunch of gaming picks in our guide. What we have here is the Oculus Quest. It’s a VR headset, but one of the mobile ones, totally chord-free, doesn’t take up a lot of space in a shared dorm room.

You don’t have your roommate tripping over your cables. That’s not a great way to make friends.
