Slow and steady isn’t exactly the way one might describe former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick’s relationship, but fast and steady might be more of an accurate descriptor. The couple, who met while Tartick, 30, was a guest on 34-year-old Bristowe’s Bachelor podcast, “Off the Vine,” earlier this year, already live together and share co-parenting duties for their Golden Retriever pup, Ramen, so it should come as no surprise that marriage is on their minds these days too.

“I think I can speak for Kaitlyn,” Tartick told E! News in a recent interview. “I think Kaitlyn has an expectation within a year.”

Bristowe responded in kind, confirming that an engagement might not be so far off, though she doesn’t want to put pressure on Tartick. “I don’t have an expectation. I don’t expect anything,” she said. “I just think on the path that we’re on, it would make sense that this is the next step. And moving in, we have the confidence in our relationship. We just rescued a dog together so that just feels like the next step in our relationship.”

The couple currently live in Nashville, Tenn., in the home that Bristowe previously shared with her ex-fiancé of three years, Shawn Booth. They adopted Ramen just a few months ago.

“We’re on the same page,” Tartick said. “We know what we want out of this relationship. The next step is moving in together. We then threw in a little curve ball and rescued a dog, so we’re doing a crash course and all the stars are aligning for sooner rather than later.”

Tartick is best known for his appearance on Becca Kufrin’s season of ABC’s The Bachelorette. He made it to the final three suitors on the season before being turned away right before the final week. Finding love with Bristowe, he said on a previous taping of “Off the Vine” that aired in April, felt natural.

“I think for most people’s time scale, maybe it’s pretty quick,” he said at the time. “When you go on The Bachelor, because you go through this period of no phone, no TV, no Internet, no music no anything, it really gives yourself an understanding and time to really just self-reflect. You learn what you’ve really done wrong in relationships and where you could be better.”

And now, he told E! News, he can’t wait to see Bristowe walk down the aisle.

“There’s just nothing more important to me than family and friends and just making sure that all the most important people to us in the world that have put us in the position that we are in today are there to share that special day,” he said. “I just get goosebumps thinking about it. I think in typical Kaitlyn and Jason fashion, I would imagine a wedding of a lot of fun, partying, singing, dancing, eating, open bar, top shelf.”
