You Might Be Seeing A Lot More Of ‘Bachelor’ Star Katie Thurston Soon

From Women's Health

All the good buzz on The Bachelor the last few months has been surrounding Katie Thurston. She made a *statement* with her entrance on Matt James' season of The Bachelor when she pulled out a sparkly pink vibrator to meet him during the premiere. Her sex- positive attitude instantly made Katie memorable and now, rumors are flying that she could be the next Bachelorette.

"It was the perfect statement for 2020," the Bachelor contestant said in reference to her good-vibes-only limo entrance on the "Bachelor Happy Hour" podcast via Us Weekly. "It actually summarized me perfectly…and I could do nothing but be myself. I knew Matt is religious; I know I don’t know him personally, so I knew it could very well send me home night one. And I would have no regrets."

The Bachelor was not deterred, and—thanks to her sense of humor, maturity, and no-BS approach to drama—Katie quickly became a fan favorite before her time on the show ended. Here's everything to know about her, including what she's been up to since filming the reality TV show:

Katie is from the West Coast and works in marketing.

Hailing from Renton, Washington, she works as a Bank Marketing Manager—buutttt would also love to host her own talk show one day, according to her ABC bio.

And, she bought a house in 2020. Katie revealed in an Instagram stories AMA that it was her biggest accomplishment.

Not much is known about her family.

In Katie's sweet conversation with Sarah Trott on The Bachelor, she revealed that her dad passed away in 2012. "I missed out on my goodbye to my dad. I would never want that for you," Katie told her fellow contestant and encouraged her to be with her terminally ill father.

Katie has mentioned her mom and a sister on TikTok, but hasn't shared any additional details.

She recently celebrated her 30th birthday.

Katie was 29 when she appeared on The Bachelor, but she's now the big 3-0. (BTW Katie's a Capricorn.) She even had a whole video shoot to commemorate her at-home celebration. (We stan a COVID-19 safe queen!)

Her skincare routine for flawless skin is super simple.

Katie says she washes her face with Irish Spring soap. Yep, you heard that right. She also takes birth control, which she credits for her clear skin. The remaining products she applies are still a mystery, for now.

Katie has an impressive following on TikTok.

Katie joined just for fun but has more than 275,000 followers on the social media platform. She originally went viral back in May 2020 when she shared a story about pooping in her pants at work. These days, she shares hilarious videos of her eating pizza rolls, drinking beer, and relatable clips about sexting.

Her most popular TikTok to date is about masturbating and having sex with ghosts.

She is obsessed with her cat, Tommy.

Katie is a cat lover, and she often posts pics and videos of her black and white cat named Tommy. She even dressed him up for the holidays, and he seems to be pretty well-trained to her "commands"!

Katie's a big Seattle Seahawks fan.

In multiple TikTok videos, she wears a shirt supporting the NFL team. Not only that, she's on the waitlist for season tickets and says her future husband must be a Seahawks fan, too.

Katie also has an LSU shirt that makes multiple appearances.

She played volleyball.

It's still tbd exactly when and what team she played for, but her form is still on point. Katie says her position was libero, which means a designated back row player.

She's also dabbled in improv.

In an Instagram Q&A, Katie revealed that she's done some improv at Seattle's Unexpected Productions. "It isn't quite my style of comedy because you have to 'yes and' everything," she said.

Katie is really open about sex.

If her intro on The Bachelor didn't already confirm this, her social media definitely does. She often posts on her IG and TikTok about her sexuality.

And, she's been calling out bullies and haters on TikTok long before going on The Bachelor.

Katie called out the #checkmeoutchallenge trend of sharing profiles of men other women found unattractive on dating apps. She asks: "Why do you have to be mean to complete strangers and put them on blast like that?"

She's not doing the Instagram influencer thing.

In fact, she's actively making fun of it on Instagram while channeling SNL legend Vanessa Bayer. (Apparently, fans have compared Katie to the actress and comedian—and tbh, I can totally see it.) "Everyone comparing me to @vanessabayer and I am here for it!😍 Use code 'dildogirl' for 20% off!" she captioned her parody video.

But, she still has over 430,000 followers on the 'gram.

Katie's pretty adventurous IRL.

She climbed Mount St. Helens, which is still an active volcano and rises to 8,363 feet.

Katie described her mountain climb on Instagram:

"Towards the top of #mtsthelens is so much ash. You’ll take two steps forward only to go one step back. But you can see the top. It’s far and the people look like ants but you can see it. So you keep pushing forward. And when I finally made it, the climb was worth it. In case you needed a push, keep climbing. The view will be worth all your hard work."

No, she's not dating Tyler Cameron.

Katie just happens to be the latest lady named in the romance rumors surrounding the former contestant. She went on Instagram for a Q&A and put a stop to the speculation: "Tyler has a girlfriend so everyone needs to get this out of their heads."

WARNING: Major spoilers for The Bachelorette season ahead!

Is Katie the next Bachelorette?

Yes, indeed. Reality Steve first served up some reali-tea on Feb. 6 when he tweeted that Katie will be the next Bachelorette. "At the 'Women Tell All' taping this past Thursday, Katie Thurston was announced as the next 'Bachelorette,'" he shared, adding, "Katie gets eliminated on Monday's episode during her 1-on-1 with Matt."

Katie responded to the rumors on her Instagram Stories and made it seem like she knew nothing about it.

"Reading my text this morning like," she wrote on her IG story, adding a shrug emoji. "News to me."

But, um, isn't that exactly what the next Bachelorette would say to throw fans off the scent? (FYI: There are a few other possibilities in the running for the next Bachelorette.)

As of March 3, Reality Steve doubled down on his prediction in a tweet that said, "(SPOILER): The more things change, the more they stay the same. The original spoiler I reported seems to be correct. Katie Thurston is set to be announced as the 'Bachelorette' in the coming days."

Katie spoke out about Chris Harrison's recent Bachelor hiatus.

Katie has been publicly supportive of BIPOC contestants from her season and calling for change in the franchise. Given her soon-to-be leading lady status, her latest tweet says a lot.

"I stand with other alumni who have expressed that learning & growth require time. I hope that Chris Harrison continues to take more time to step away while sincerely educating himself & dedicating himself to the work," she wrote on Twitter. "We can all grow and do better with time, and I hope he does."

Katie also shared her support for former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay. She tweeted: "I stand with Rachel Lindsay in everything that she is. I aspire to be as smart as she is. As fierce as she is. As entertaining as she is. As caring as she is. We'd all be lucky to have a Rachel Lindsay in our lives... I will always be a Rachel Lindsay supporter."

And she has high expectations for her future spouse.

Katie's Bachelor bio revealed what she wants in her person—in addition to being a Seattle Seahawks fan, natch. "She needs a man who can laugh along with her but is okay with him laughing at her too when the moment calls for it. Katie is looking for a mature man who has ambitions to succeed in everything he does, both personally and professionally," her bio says. "Her dream man will be passionate about building a long-term life with her and will treat Katie as his equal in the relationship. Nothing turns her off more than someone who sits around playing video games all day or a man who tries to kiss her at the inopportune moment….It’s all about creating the right vibe with Katie!"

Reality Steve is already releasing some of Katie's contestants.

It sounds like producers have their work cut out for them casting husband hopefuls, but they are on it. So far, Reality Steve has released six dudes who may appear on the next Bachelorette season on Twitter.

There's Quartney Mixon, 26, from McKinney, TX. He has a degree in biology and is involved in fitness, per Steve.
