‘The Bachelor’ Episode 4 Recap: The Ladies Take Tahoe

*Warning: Spoilers ahead*

This week on The Bachelor, Arie Luyendyk Jr. takes Seinne on an adventurous excursion, Kendall wins bonus points on the group date for her, er, easygoing appetite and Bekah comes face-to-face with her age. Here’s how it all went down.

The First One-On-One

Season 22, episode four of The Bachelor kicks off in Lake Tahoe, California. As the women settle in at the cabin, the first one-on-one date card arrives for Seinne, and she’s in for an adventure to say the least.

First up on the itinerary? Parasailing. Following a brief cruise around the lake, the couple cozies up on the beach for a serious conversation.

Luyendyk Jr. opens up about his relationship with his family, while Seinne dishes on how happy she is to be there. He eats it up, natch.

During dinner, Seinne confronts Luyendyk Jr. about a comment he made on the first night they met. In the first episode, he told her that he hasn’t been able to love or be loved for the past five years, and now she wants answers.

He admits that he was protecting himself from getting hurt, just like he did on Emily Maynard’s season of The Bachelorette. Seinne says she knows how he feels and reveals that she never thought anyone would ever love her, either.

Right on cue, Luyendyk Jr. gives her the rose before escorting her to a private serenade performance by the band Lanco. NBD.

The Dreaded Group Date

Back at the cabin, Maquel receives a phone call from her mother, who informs her that her grandpa passed away.

Later on, a group date card arrives for Krystal, Marikh, Maquel, Ashley, Jenna, Tia, Kendall, Lauren B., Brittany, Becca K., Caroline and Chelsea, which means no-age Bekah is the lucky winner of the upcoming one-on-one date.

On the group date, the women are greeted by a retired commander from the U.S. Army Special Forces, who informs them that he’s going to teach them how to survive in the woods. So, yeah, this is going to be good.

The ladies are forced to do everything from searching for water sources to eating bugs. Kendall happily complies with all of the above, which earns her extra attention from Luyendyk Jr. and an evil eye from Krystal.

After breaking off into teams, they navigate their way through a dense forest with a compass until they stumble upon a casual hot tub on top of a mountain.

As they celebrate and drink champagne, Krystal contemplates telling Luyendyk Jr. that she feels uncomfortable in group settings but is worried about being “that girl.”

That night, Luyendyk Jr. sits down for one-on-one conversations with the ladies. Nevertheless, it’s Krystal who becomes the drama queen of the episode when she tearfully tells him that she doesn’t like when he shows affection to other contestants. News flash, Krystal, this is a competitive reality dating show.

This prompts Tia to pull Krystal aside to confront her about her behavior. But when Krystal accuses her of making fun of her tears, Tia feels as though she’s attacking her character and storms out of the room to find Luyendyk Jr.

And...it worked. He ends up giving Tia the group date rose, ultimately making Krystal all sorts of confused.

The 14-Year Age Gap

Now it’s Bekah’s turn. This time, Luyendyk Jr. takes her on a scenic tour of Tahoe via horseback. They eventually arrive at a lakefront Jacuzzi stocked with a bottle of champagne, and we can’t help but wonder if the producers are running out of ideas.

That night, it’s clear Luyendyk Jr. is interested in addressing the elephant in the room—Bekah’s age. When she tells him she’s 22, he admits that he’s in a completely different place now than he was in his early 20s and doesn’t think she’s ready for a longterm relationship.

Needless to say, he reluctantly offers her the rose.

The Rose Ceremony

The next day, Chris Harrison informs the women that Luyendyk Jr. already made up his mind, which means there will be no last-minute conversations at the cocktail party. Dun-dun-dun.

Right as he’s about to hand out the first rose, Krystal asks to steal the Bachelor away so she can clear the air before going in to the rose ceremony.

At long last, Luyendyk Jr. offers a rose to everyone but Brittany and Caroline, so Krystal is off the hook...for now.

Same time next week?
