Baby Born With Full Head of Hair Inspires Hilarious Photoshop Battle
A Photoshop battle has broken out amid Reddit users over an unsuspecting baby girl. One woman posted a photo of herself and her cousin, a very thick-haired baby, and people are freaking out. The post has been viewed upwards of 3 million times and has raked in almost 1,000 comments since being published 11 days ago.
The conversation started with comments about the baby’s side part and very full head of brown hair, and quickly escalated into a frenzy. People compared the baby to “the grandpa from Up,” “a LEGO minifigure,” and most commonly, Ron Burgundy from Anchorman. They insisted that her hair is a toupee and weren’t shy to admit their jealousy about it’s lusciousness. Plenty of commenters also sympathized with the baby’s mother’s pain, since heartburn during pregnancy can be an indicator that the baby will be born with hair.
Finally, the battle ensued. Amateur Photoshop artists face-swapped the baby with Mark Wahlberg, gave her Ron Burgundy’s bushy brows and ‘stache, and even lent her hair to Donald Trump, because he could certainly use the help.
According to Dr. Bud Zukow, a pediatrician and author of Baby: An Owner’s Manual, it’s not uncommon for babies to be born with full heads of hair. “It’s a genetic thing, or even an ethnic thing,” Dr. Zukow told HairFinder. “Just like other characteristics, some babies have more hair than others.” Still, this baby’s extremely thick tresses seem to be an exception. Zukow says that newborns’ hair tends to molt then regrow, with the second round of hair often looking considerably different from the hair they were born with. He says this is due to the baby’s exposure to hormones while inside the mother’s womb, which drastically changes after birth and eventually stagnates, causing the hair to fall out and allowing for new, thicker hair to come in.
