An 'Avengers: Endgame' Fan Just Spotted a Major Error Involving Captain America's Shield
Avengers: Endgame has a shield problem. And that's a shield—not SHIELD!
It's probably no surprise that people spend endless hours picking over the climactic movie in the first four phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with super-fans finding and re-finding continuity gaffes all the time.
The latest continuity error has been seen before, but it started going viral again this week when an eagle-eyed person spotted it during a rewatch of the film and shared it on Reddit.
During the final battle, there's a wide shot featuring Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) ready to throw his Vibranium shield to take down Thanos and his unholy army.
There's just one problem! At that point in the film, Thanos had already bashed Steve's shield into two smaller shards in an ultimate power move.
Either Steve used his time travel device from the end of the movie to travel back to this one moment of the battle and then leave without doing anything else… or a VFX supervisor left the shield in by mistake. We'll leave it up to you to decide.
There are several other continuity errors that are easily spottable in the film. The time heist itself will probably give you a headache if you think too much about it, for example!
And speaking of the final battle with Thanos, there is also a major size discrepancy for Ant-Man/Giant Man during one key sequence. But hey, with a $350m-plus blockbuster featuring the most star-studded cast ever, we can forgive a few mistakes!
