Auburn running back Boobee Whitlow is looking to leave Auburn.

The Tigers’ leading rusher put his name in the transfer portal on Wednesday per multiple reports, including Rivals’ AuburnSports.com.

Whitlow rushed for 763 yards and 10 touchdowns in 11 games in 2019. He was the only Auburn player to rush for more than 400 yards during the season.

Whitlow missed two games with a knee injury he suffered against LSU when he had just three carries for nine yards. But he had 16 carries for 114 yards in the Tigers’ win over Alabama in the Iron Bowl to end the regular season. It was the third time he rushed for over 100 yards in a game in 2019.

Auburn finished the season at 9-4 following a loss to Minnesota in the Outback Bowl. Whitlow scored a touchdown in that game but had just nine carries for 24 yards.

Auburn still has plenty of RB depth

While Whitlow rushed for over 700 yards in each of the past two seasons, Auburn’s cupboard is far from bare at running back.

Freshman RB D.J. Williams rushed for 400 yards in 2019, and Kam Martin and Shaun Shivers also return. The Tigers also signed four-star running back Cartavious Bigsby in the early signing period in December.

Since Whitlow’s potential transfer was announced on National Signing Day, he immediately becomes a target for schools looking to bolster their running back depth if they missed out on a top target or two during the recruiting period.
