One month after welcoming Atlanta back, it's already almost time to say goodbye. Donald Glover and Hiro Murai's acclaimed FX comedy will return for its final season this fall, just three months after its divisive third season came to a close.

Atlanta season 3 returned to mixed reviews after its four-year break, with half of its ten episodes focusing on Earn (Glover), (Paper Boi) Brian Tyree Henry, Darius (LaKeith Stanfield), and Van's (Zazie Beetz) European adventures. The other half was made of stand-alone episodes containing allegories on American society and very surprising guest stars, from Alexander Skarsgård to Chet Hanks.

Whatever you thought of last season, the show's final run will see the foursome returning to their home base. Here's everything else we know about season 4 so far.

Atlanta season 4 will premiere in September.

FX has announced that Atlanta's final season will premiere September 15, dropping the news alongside a trippy official trailer (seen below). Glover and FX chairman Jon Landgraf previously revealed that seasons 3 and 4 were filmed concurrently, with a plan to release the final season soon after the third.

"I wanted to end this after season 2," Glover said at the time, per Entertainment Weekly. "I feel like the story was always supposed to be what it was... It really was what we were going through and what we talked about."

Earn, Paper Boi, Darius, and Van will return to the U.S.

After season 3's European adventures, the date announcement shows that main foursome will return to Atlanta, Georgia, for their final run. A statement from FX also reveals that the homecoming will not go smoothly, asking, "has Atlanta changed or have they?"

The surrealistic, minute-long clip is filled with references to previous seasons, including Darius driving the invisible car from season 1's "The Club," the alligator from season 2's "Alligator Man" scaling a liquor store, and a chainsaw cutting down the tree from season 3's "The Old Man and the Tree." At the end, Paper Boi is about to drop his mike before the foursome disappears, with the microphone levitating in the air.

Beetz previously teased season 4's homecoming theme in a conversation with Bazaar.com, in which she said that she wants to "give [Van] a hug and tell her it's okay."

"Particularly after Season 3, I really felt that for her, which will become obvious when this last episode drops. In Season 4, it's sort of this homecoming feeling, and it's not the end of the search for identity for any of the characters in terms of what the future is holding and whatnot," she added. "The last few seasons really felt like she's supposed to be the strong person, the strong woman, the strong Black woman—but she's delicate! I want her to know that I am holding her hand."
