Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid Just Walked in the 'Trashiest' Runway Show

The Moschino show was trash. Like, literally.

Carrie Bradshaw had put a bird on her head, but Kendall Jenner just beat her: She opened the Moschino show wearing a UPS crate as a hat. She wasn’t the only one. Gigi Hadid wore a trench with “fragile” stamped on the belt. Marjan Jonkman wore tin cans instead of bracelets; Stella Maxwell swung a gym sock around like a purse; and Elsa Hosk pulled off our ultimate fantasy by sporting a swath of bubble wrap as an evening gown.

The trash-tastic mashup was part of designer Jeremy’s Scott’s big mission statement: “Couture is an attitude. Not a price point.” It spanned the invitations — empty mousetraps! — and accessories like Jasmine Sanders’s “diamond” choker, which was made up of foam that had been painted, cut, and taped together. And of course it stretched to the runway, a simple length of brown cardboard held together with duct tape.

Anna Cleveland, the outré model and artist, vamped her way up and down it in a velvet curtain dress with an enormous train. She turned a corner and — whoops! — lost the train as it fell into the audience. (Perhaps it got stuck on some tape?) But the 27-year-old made a swift theatrical recovery.

Under all this pomp and detritus, there were plenty of elegant pieces rendered from fur, leather, and other textured materials. There was even a very ladylike gray car coat and miniskirt that would be perfect on Amal Clooney. No matter, we’ll opt for Ratoporter, the capsule collection, which features trash can purses and rat-print knitwear that you can buy ASAP.
