What Gabrielle Union Wants Husband Dwayne Wade to Wear From NYFW Men's

Following yesterday’s Sound of Music-themed tribute, men’s shows continue to go full throttle in New York. Designers had us running around town starting with a visit uptown, at Skylight Modern for Thom Browne and then downtown at the CFDA’s new hub in Tribeca for Public School, Timo Weiland, and Robert Geller.

Browne kicked off the day with a small, one-noted collection that offered several, yet slight variations on a classic suit—many pinstriped, elongated coats with cropped trousers (a signature look of the designer—and one that sells). But the most thrilling component of Browne’s presentation was the environment he created: in an enclosed space in the basement of Skylight Modern, where hoards of fashion folk spiraled up the stairs and out the door, Browne’s team built a mirrored room—optimum for selfies.

The designer’s room was more like a work of art—a complex installation that’s evocative of any of the Matrix films or a work by artist, Yayoi Kusama, whose Mirror Room exhibition in New York City last summer yielded the attention (and social media following) in the tens of thousands.

Later in the day, the NY-based brand Public School showed their Spring/Summer 2016 collection downtown at the new CFDA mandated show space Skylight Clarkson Square, which will also become the hub for the next season of women’s shows as well. Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow enlisted a stylish gang of models in the form of a police lineup, including one of Wes Anderson’s favorite actors, Waris Ahluwalia, and fashion consultant Nick Wooster. Whatever fashion crimes had been committed, were quickly forgotten when you looked at the clean-cut, monochromatic ensembles that included bomber jackets, drop crotch pants, and short, dark suits.

The “incarcerated crew” got a visit from Miami Heat baller Dwyane Wade who also snuck backstage, acting as one of the models. “I love that they [Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow] didn’t do a traditional show,” Wade’s wife, Gabrielle Union told Yahoo Style. “I would like to see my husband in that sleeveless vest-thing,” Union added. The actress then professed that she had six other shows to attend—and a new outfit for each (Oh to be a baller’s wife!).
