Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard’s marriage is full of opposition. But don’t worry—that’s a good thing when it comes to their astrological compatibility, says Rachel Lang, intuitive astrologer.

“Dax is a Capricorn and Kristen is a Cancer,” explains Lang. “These are opposite sun signs, but very often, opposites attract.” The tension between them is what keeps things interesting. “They will continue to challenge one another, and this is a relationship that won’t get boring.”

The other notable opposition is all about Mercury, the planet that rules communication. “With this opposition, the two may have differing viewpoints or ways of expressing themselves,” Lang explains. And though they’re skilled communicators, Kristen and Dax have to work at it.

In fact, it’s something Kristen’s opened up when she described Dax calling her out on her “toxic” habit of storming out of their home mid-argument during an interview with Harry Connick Jr. When Dax explained how it made him feel, they were able to adjust how they communicate during heated moments.

While they might not always see eye-to-eye at first, Dax and Kristen challenge each other to be better. Lang says they each encourage the other to develop new ways of thinking and expressing themselves. Ahead, she breaks down exactly how Kristen and Dax have been doing this during the seven years they’ve been married.

Mars and Venus spark Kristen and Dax's passion.

"Kristen’s Venus in Gemini is in opposition to Dax’s Mars in Sagittarius, suggesting they have sexual chemistry and romantic compatibility," Lang explains. Once again, their compatibility is determined by two planets in opposition. This positioning determines a "true heart connection" and tons of passion, she adds.

And when they disagree, Venus brings them back to each other. "Venus wants peace and harmony," says Lang, so no matter what they disagree about, their passion for each other will always help them find a solution.

They're each other's biggest fans because of Jupiter.

Jupiter is the planet that's all about luck, faith, and expansion. And Dax's Sun is well-positioned from Kristen's Jupiter. This tells Lang that the couple brings out the best in each other. "Kristen may feel like Dax’s cheerleader, and he might feel like she believes in his potential. She likely feels generous toward him—like she wants to do what she can to help him reach his goals and fulfill his dream," Lang explains.

And because Kristen's Sun is at a 72-degree angle (called a quintile aspect in the astrology world) from Dax's Pluto, she can also tell the couple constantly supports the other's growth. "They feel a sense of purpose in being together, as if fate brought them together. This aspect supports shared creative outlets and a deep connection that leads to transformation," says Lang.

Cancer is the reason they've been able to commit.

Because Dax's Saturn and Kristen's Mercury are both in Cancer, commitment is a biggie in their relationship. And, more recently, it's why, says Lang, Kristen has stood by Dax as he's faced challenges with his sobriety.

"The relationship between Dax’s Pluto and Kristen’s Mars makes them a power couple who can do anything they set their minds to," Lang adds. The way these two planets are positioned relative to each other allows them to maintain and work toward shared goals. They want the same things out of life which allows them to grow together, lift each other up, and stay devoted to one another.
