Need more head butts in your life? Diamond Girl needs a new home

For nearly three weeks, a cat named Diamond Girl at Dakin Humane Society in Springfield has been patiently waiting for a new family.

Diamond Girl arrived at Dakin with her sisters, Rube Rose and Onyx, after the owner became homeless, according to a statement from the society. Although Onyx has found a home, Diamond Girl and Ruby Rose have continued together in foster care.

The sister kitties get along well but they can be adopted separately.

“Like a true diamond in the rough, she may take a little time to shine but once she trusts you, expect plenty of charming head butts as her signature show of affection,” Dakin wrote about Diamond Girl. “She adores treats and toys, especially the kind she can pounce on with wild abandon, channeling her inner jungle cat on the prowl.”

After her playtime is over, Diamond Girl enjoys settling in and embracing her role as a “world-class couch potato.”

Diamond Girl is a spirit cat, which means she’s a bit fearful of people, especially if she doesn’t know them, the society said. The kitty will not demand a lot of attention and would prefer hanging out and being accepted the way she is.

“One day, your Spirit Cat might decide that you’re in her ‘inner circle’ and be demonstrative, affectionate and sleep by your side, but she also may stay aloof,” Dakin wrote. “There are no guarantees. If you have a calm home and a gentle heart, Diamond Girl just might be your perfect match.”
