Arkansas QB Cole Kelley suspended after arrest (Update)

Arkansas coach Bret Bielema announced that QB Cole Kelley is suspended indefinitely from the program following his Sunday morning arrest.

Hours after starting in Arkansas’ loss to LSU on Saturday, Razorback quarterback Cole Kelley was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Kelley was arrested by Fayetteville, Arkansas, police Sunday morning. According to the Washington County online booking records, Kelley was booked at 8:47 a.m.

“I was informed early this morning of an incident involving Cole Kelley,” Arkansas coach Bret Bielema said in a statement. “We are gathering all information from the proper authorities and will make a determination upon review of that information.”

Kelley, a redshirt freshman, had taken over as the team’s starting quarterback when Austin Allen was sidelined with a shoulder injury. Kelley was 3-10 for 36 yards and an interception in the Hogs’ 33-10 loss to LSU on Saturday. Allen, meanwhile, was 13-23 for 140 yards.

Arkansas fell to 4-6 with the loss to the Tigers. The Razorbacks need to beat both Mississippi State and Missouri to make a bowl game.
