Ariana Grande ended the spring by secretly marrying her fiancé Dalton Gomez, and now she's kicking off the summer with another big change—though this one is strictly beauty-focused. The singer went short, ditching her signature long hair for a lob. Grande debuted the new hairstyle on her Instagram in a captionless video. You can see the photo here.

Grande has had her hair cut into a lob before, back in November 2018. It was only a matter of time, though, until she returned back to her signature long ponytail, presumably with the help of extensions.

By December 2018, the long, sleek ponytail was back in full force at a red carpet event:

Grande spoke about how her ponytail's look has changed over time (from brown to platinum, high to low) in a May 2018 interview with The Fader. “The pony has also gone through an evolution, and I'm proud of that,” she said. “Old pony? I don't know if she's that girl. But new pony? I like her. I mean, it's like a Victoria's Secret Angel without Angel wings. It's still her without them, but when she's with them it's like, ‘Ohh, I get it, she's an Angel.’”

Grande's real hair is naturally curly. In November 2020, she opened up to radio host Zach Sang about it, saying her boyfriend (now husband Gomez) loves her natural hair. “My real hair, which is the humungous, curly, curly poof, is kind of, I don’t know…so few people get to see it, and it’s cute, and it reminds me of me as a kid and it reminds me of...it’s who I am privately. But so is this. I wear my ponytail all the time too, but the curls are definitely something that I don’t bring around much.”

Grande has shared her natural hair before on her social media, and so has her hairstylist:
