Ariana Grande Banned This Clip of Carole Baskin From Appearing in the ‘Stuck With U’ Video

Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber’s new music video for “Stuck With U” is filled with clips of friends, families, and pups dancing while in quarantine. (Grande’s new boyfriend, Dalton Gomez, also makes an appearance.) It’s a party for everyone—well, except Tiger King’s Carole Baskin and her husband, Howard.

It turns out the notorious couple from Netflix’s hit docuseries tried to submit a video of themselves for Bieber and Grande’s video, but Grande wasn’t interested in their footage. Unfortunately, it looks like Bieber didn’t exactly get this memo.

In a tweet promoting the song on May 7, Bieber included the clip of Baskin and her husband dancing in some…interesting…lion-themed getups. “Tonight. #stuckwithu. He ain’t going nowhere,” Bieber tweeted. I honestly don’t know what to say about that.

Grande wanted to make it clear that viewers would not be seeing this moment in the final version of the video. “For the record, I did not allow or approve this clip to be in the actual video,” she replied to Bieber’s tweet. “Nonetheless. It exists and that’s ..... unique.”

Seriously, Ari did not want Baskin to be a part of her narrative. After one fan expressed laughter at the whole situation in Grande’s replies, the singer doubled down. “I am very glad someone is laughing,” she wrote with a sob-face emoji. “The fucking heart attacks I had over this.”

Watch the entire (Baskin-free) video for the song—which benefits the First Responders Children’s Foundation and coronavirus relief efforts—below.

With Demi Lovato, Hailey Baldwin, Will Smith, Mila Kunis, Kendall Jenner, and more making appearances throughout the video, it didn't need any more famous faces, anyway.

“I can’t fully articulate ……… howwwww happy i am that we waited this long to do this (the duet thing). this moment really means so much more than it ever could have if it had happened any other way or if it had been any other song,” Ariana Grande wrote on Instagram about the song. “Being able to lend our voices to this project and collaborating on this has been so fulfilling and i really just love this song so much. grateful to be doing this with my friend and also just wanted to express an enormous thank u to all of the brilliant creatives who worked on this song @freddywexler @gianstone @iamwhitphillips @skylerstonestreet as well as Universal and all of our streaming partners for waiving their fees and really stepping up in support of this greater cause @1strcf , and of course scooter and allison for working so hard to put it all together. my heart is seriously so full. we’re so close and i cant wait for u all to hear #stuckwithu in a few hours ! love u.”
