Are Wow Air’s $99 Fares to Europe Too Good to Be True?

Wow Air is having one of its infamous $99 sales again, this time from the United States to Europe. But unless you live on the East Coast and have a super flexible travel schedule, don’t hold your breath about taking advantage.

The ultra-low-cost Icelandic airline flies only out of Washington, D.C. (Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, a.k.a., BWI) and Boston (Logan International Airport) in the U.S, and the $99 fares are only for flights to Paris and Amsterdam on one day per week. (There are also $99 fares to  Dublin available for January and February.) All the flights have a stopover in Reykjavik.

Those are certainly all cities Americans love to visit, but then there’s the other catch — fares back from Europe to the U.S. are considerably more expensive (though still less than on other airlines).

If you have the flexibility, book the flights soon, as they could sell out at any time.

USA Today broke down the available fare basics:

BWI to Amsterdam: Available to travel Thursdays from Oct. 1 through Dec. 10 and from Jan. 10 through March 10.

BWI to Paris: Available to travel Sundays from Oct. 1 through Dec. 13, and from Jan. 10 through March 10.

Boston to Amsterdam: Available for travel Sundays from Oct. 1 through Dec. 13, Jan. 10 through March 10.

Boston to Paris: Available for travel on Thursdays from Oct. 1 through Dec. 12, 2015 and Jan. 10 through March 10.
