Apple (AAPL) is set to release a patch for the Safari web browser on its iPhones, iPads and Macs within days. That’s after major chipmakers disclosed flaws that leave nearly every modern computing device vulnerable to hackers. Apple assures users the software fix will not slowdown their devices.
Google (GOOGL) has found a new way to enter China. The tech giant is investing in the Chinese live-stream mobile game platform Chushou. The service has roughly 8 million streamers and 250,000 live streams a day. Google has been blocked in China since 2014.
GoPro (GPRO) is making cuts. The camera company is slashing two to three hundred jobs in its aerial products unit, according to TechCrunch. The action camera company has struggled in recent years as it tries to compete with cheaper alternatives and better cell phone cameras.
Former Uber CEO Travis Kalanick is selling nearly a third of a stake in the ride-hailing company he co-founded to a consortium of investors led by Softbank, according to Bloomberg. Kalanick stands to make $1.4B from the sale. The deal would increase Softbank’s already sizable stake in Uber.
