It’s no secret that Kanye West leaves his distinct mark wherever he goes, and this time, he’s doing it for a good cause: building homes for the homeless. In Forbes August 2019 cover story, the 42-year-old rapper revealed that he’s currently working on building homes inspired by his favorite sci-fi franchise, Star Wars.

More specifically, Kanye is building replicas of Luke Skywalker’s Tatooine home seen in the original 1977 film, A New Hope. According to Forbes, the father of four has been working with designers to come up with prefab structures with the same out-of-this-world aesthetic. The publication had the opportunity to tour the future low-income housing units, and described them as “oblong and dozens of feet tall.”

Apparently, the people living around the 300 acres of land Kanye purchased in Calabasas aren't too happy about all the commotion these futuristic domes are causing. According to TMZ, neighbors complained to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works which caused them to send over an inspector. The website reports that if Kanye doesn't attain the correct permits for the structures by September 15th, the Star Wars-inspired structures must be torn down.

The Star Wars inspiration for these domes may not come as a total surprise to long-time Kayne fans. After all, 15 years ago, the rapper filmed a pilot called "Alligator Boots" for Comedy Central (although it never aired), which included his now-wife Kim Kardashian dressing up in Princess Leia’s bikini outfit.

Though there's no set timeline for when Kanye will make these homes available—especially now with the whole permit debacle—we're sure it'll be a memorable event.
