GOOD NEWS! A$AP Rocky has been released from jail pending his assault trial verdict, according to TMZ. The outlet reports that Rocky is free to leave Sweden while he awaits a verdict, which is expected to come on August 14. Apparently, the decision to free him was met with a “cheer from onlookers.”
Toward the end of June, Rocky was allegedly involved in a fight that broke out on the streets of Stockholm, Sweden. He’s been detained since July 3, and the Swedish Prosecution Authority formally charged him with assault on July 25.
Celebrities (and President Trump, FWIW) have been campaigning for Rocky’s release after it was reported that he was in “inhumane” conditions in a “disease-ridden” facility, so this is a huge win. That said, if convicted, A$AP faces up to two years in jail or a fine based on his income—but TMZ reports that prosecutors asked the judges to impose a 6-month jail sentence.
