Another Live-Action 'Peter Pan' Is Coming, and It Reportedly Has Its Captain Hook

Welp, we’re officially going to need a visual aid to keep all the live-action Peter Pan movies straight. According to Variety, another live-action version of the classic Neverland-set story is currently in the works. Called Peter Pan & Wendy, this new version fro Disney may see Jude Law stepping into the shoes of Captain Hook, and the internet has thoughts.

Now before you jump down Disney’s throat about the multitude of live-action Peter Pan remakes, all based on the 1911 novel by J.M. Barrie, it’s important to note that Disney itself actually hasn’t touched Peter Pan since its original animation’s debut in 1953.

1991’s Hook with Robin Williams was a Steven Spielberg film, and 2003’s Peter Pan starring Jeremy Sumpter was produced under Universal Pictures. Even Joe Wright’s 2015 rendition called Pan, which starred Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard, wasn’t Disney—that was produced by Warner Bros.

So, Disney is finally taking a crack at recreating the story it made famous for the next generation. And Law could be following in the footsteps of iconic Hooks including Dustin Hoffman, Jason Isaacs, Garrett Hedlund, and Colin O'Donoghue who portrayed Captain Hook on the television show Once Upon a Time.

However, it’s clear that some people are experiencing live-action Peter Pan whiplash.

Even though Disney has yet to shoot its shot in the live-action Peter Pan sphere, many argue that we’ve already seen all there is to see. And we already all have our favorite Pans (and Captain Hooks).

Not even the tease of Jude Law is changing peoples’ minds.

In fact...Perhaps Disney really missed an opportunity here…

As of right now, Law has yet to sign on to the production, and Peter Pan & Wendy is still in the early development phase. There’s time to get amped for the new live-action Peter Pan rendition, but there’s also time to feel even more malaise about its impending release—pick your poison, we suppose.
