Another Alabama title may mean a logistical nightmare outside Bryant-Denny Stadium
Alabama is so good that another national championship will force a reconfiguration of its Walk of Champions plaza outside Bryant-Denny Stadium.
We’re not kidding. Placement of the 2017 marker is already challenging enough, according to Al.com. The 2015 championship took up the last available spot in the area, so the 2017 title marker on the pavement outside is going where the header for the plaza sits currently.
If Alabama wins again, well …
There’s a plaque one row of bricks from the stadium steps that tells the story of Bryant-Denny Stadium and the walk.
It, a university spokesman said, will be moved to a nearby wall so the 2017 national championship commemoration can take its place.
Any future titles would require some major reorganization or expansion of the plaza.
Given Alabama’s success under Nick Saban, we’d be stunned if athletic department officials aren’t already trying to figure out what to do with potential renovations.
We’re also thinking that fans — or even administrators — of every other school don’t have too much sympathy with Alabama’s plight. A lack of room to honor your championships is a great problem to have.
