Anne Hathaway celebrates The Devil Wears Prada anniversary in powerful way

We've been loving Anne Hathaway recently, from her role in tv drama WeCrashed to her serious fashion moves. Whether it's a superhero-worthy corset, itsy-bitsy Gucci mini, a slinky silver Versace dress or even a modern bouncy, blowout quiff, she's been serving some v chic looks. And with a new project in the works, historical drama film Armageddon Time also starring Anthony Hopkins and Jessica Chastain, it looks like we'll be seeing a lot more of Anne very soon.

However, while she's got plenty to look forward to, Anne has also been taking some time to reflect on her star-studded career so far. The 39-year-old mother of two has appeared in iconic roles in era-defining films such as Bride Wars, One Day and The Princess Diaries but her best-known character is probably Andy Sachs from The Devil Wears Prada, which recently celebrated its sixteenth anniversary.

To mark the film's sweet sixteen, Anne took to Instagram to make a celebratory post and used the opportunity to make a big statement. Posting on her grid to her 24.3 million followers, she posted a carousel of images and BTS moments from the film and revealed her fave outfit: a mini shift dress with black coat and boots and looooads of Chanel costume jewellery.

In the caption she also gave a special shoutout to the costume designer Patricia Field, who worked on the film (as well as SATC), writing; "Happy Anniversary to #TheDevilWearsPrada, with special love to the amazing @patriciafield! She put us in the most incredible, iconic and joyful costumes which somehow keep serving 16 years later. That’s magic."

However, the post turned political in the second half of her caption, where she wrote; "Looking back on photos of this beloved film that shaped the lives and careers of so many—mine included—I am struck by the fact that the young female characters in this movie built their lives and careers in a country that honored [sic] their right to have choice over their own reproductive health."

This part of the caption seems to make reference to the recent overturning of Roe v Wade by the US Supreme Court, leading to immediate abortion bans in numerous American states. Rounding off her post, Anne seemed to signal that she would be continuing to use her voice to raise awareness of the importance of reproductive rights, writing; "See you in the fight xx"
