Anna Faris: 'Thank God' my mom won't be reading my new book

Anna Faris is unfiltered in her new book, Unqualified, which will surely delight fans … but not her mom.

The Mom star, 40, is making the press rounds promoting the book — which is based on her podcast, Unqualified — and stopped by Build Series NYC to dish on some of the raunchy and embarrassing stories she relates in the book. Faris admits it’s easier promoting films where there is an “escape” with her characters. But with her book, she says: “This feels like, ‘Oh, oh, yeah, these are my embarrassing stories.’”

“And my mom told me — my parents flew down to Los Angeles to take care of my son, Jack, during this week of press — and my mom said the other morning, ‘Annie, I’m gonna give you a gift. I am not going to read your book,’” Faris recalls. “I was like, ‘Ahhh, Mom, thank god! Thank you!’”

The actress continues, “I mean, I talk about getting finger-banged, I talk about the guys I’ve slept with, I talk about all kinds of incredibly embarrassing stuff that’s hard for me to repeat right now.”

One person who has read Faris’s stories? Ex-husband Chris Pratt. Faris and Pratt announced their separation in August; however, the Guardians of the Galaxy star wrote the forward of her book.

“He was so kind to do that,” Faris said on Monday’s episode of Live With Kelly and Ryan, explaining that Pratt got an advance copy. “We’re great,” she added, saying they have remained close post-split. “He’s amazing. We’re great friends, and we always will be.”

It was reported last week that the actress has moved on and is dating cinematographer Michael Barrett. Faris and Barrett, 47, met on the set of Overboard , but things didn’t become romantic until recently. Since that’s a new development, it’s too bad we won’t get any meet-cute stories in Unqualified.
