Update 19/8/21:

As 2020 came and went with many unexpected twists and turns but far less movie launches, superhero franchise powerhouse Marvel's latest star-studded film project, Eternals, left us with nothing more than a few blurry set photos and a sneak peek of Angelina Jolie with a full head of blonde hair. Understandably, we needed to see more.

Then, in May this year, we were finally treated to a teaser trailer (see above) of the movie starring Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan and Kit Harington alongside Jolie, and a proper first look at the actor sporting icy white long hair as her character Thena.

Now, the final official trailer for the film has been released, and all we can say is that Jolie's full brunette-to-blonde hair transformation is nothing short of epic.

The under three minute clip begins with some helpful exposition from Hayek's character Ajak explaining the current state of events in a post-Thanos finger click world (if you know, you know) and describing the next Earth-ending impending doom. All important plot information we're sure, but blonde Angelina is what we're here for, and thankfully, the trailer gives us that as well.

Jolie first appears looking all kinds of ethereal, accessorising her new Marilyn Monroe-esque blonde hair with a spear and boho white dress, before switching later in the trailer to a radiant white gold armour ensemble complete with an elven headdress and a pair of golden swords. In true superhero style, even mid-combat, Jolie's blonde hair looks impeccable.

We know what we'll be watching come 5 November...

Update 25/5/21:

After a year of delayed movie openings (and a lot of other disappointments), the world of film is finally getting back to normal. Which means superheroes are officially back.

Between Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh's eagerly awaited Black Widow and much-loved antihero Loki's Disney+ series hitting screens later this year, our love for capes, super strength and unexplained alien invasions is back with a vengeance.

First on our list to watch? Marvel's Eternals. Fans of the franchise will know it's been over a year since the first images of the film emerged all the way back in 2019 ,and all we could talk about was Angelina Jolie's platinum blonde hair transformation.

Now, the official teaser trailer has finally been released so we can see Jolie's icy white hair in motion. As the earlier images hinted, the actor looks almost unrecognisable as her character Thena with long, pale blonde hair in place of her signature brunette shade.

Watch the trailer above to see Jolie's full Marilyn moment and keep your fingers crossed for the full movie release this November.

Whether you're a superhero film fan or not, Marvel's latest addition to their cape-wearing movie franchise is one you won't want to miss. We're talking about Eternals.

Starring Salma Hayek and Kit Harington (who shared a cute selfie on Instagram last week as Hayek commented she 'still can't believe' she's working with Jon Snow) and featuring a Game Of Thrones reunion with Harington and Richard Madden working starring on screen together again, Eternals is the blockbuster movie worth taking a trip to your local Picturehouse for.

The best bit? ELLE cover star, philanthropist and all round epic actress, Angelina Jolie, stars as superhuman warrior Thena. And she looks totally different.

Snapped filming scenes in England, Jolie can be seen dressed in character wearing a white dress and sporting long white blonde hair as she wades into a lake to spread some ashes.

Blonde Angelina Jolie wearing a white floaty dress whilst playing a superhero? We don't know about you we're getting serious Marilyn Monroe-meets-Wonder Woman vibes.

While we can't confirm that Jolie's newly platinum hair is a wig, we can assume that the on-set photos show the actress in full costume suggesting that her hair might not be the real deal.

The human rights activist is no stranger to playing a physically strong character, with Thena the latest in her roster of boundary-breaking roles. Speaking to ELLE, Jolie commented on the nuance of being a woman not just in Hollywood, but everywhere:

'But it is also true that women don’t wake up every morning wanting to fight. We want to be able to be soft and nurturing and graceful and loving – not everyone is born to fight. And we don’t have magical powers. What we do have is the ability to support one another, and to work with the many great men who value and respect women as their equals.'
