It may only be August, but the sons and daughters of Hollywood are starting to pack up their things and head off to college, and Angelina Jolie seems thrilled with her daughter Zahara’s choice of Spelman College, a historically Black liberal arts college for women in Atlanta.
The A-list actor-writer-director-producer was caught on video over the weekend doing the Electric Slide at a “Spelhouse” event, organized with Morehouse College, a historically Black men’s college that’s also in Atlanta. (Spelman and Bennett College, in North Carolina, are sister schools to Morehouse.)
In the video, posted by Brandon Rainey, Jolie can be seen trading remarks and arm bumps with other attendees and getting into the groove…kinda. In a gray sweater and cream-colored slacks, she’s not exactly dancing, but she’s not not dancing, either. Watch and decide for yourself:
P.S.—if anyone knows what song is playing, @ me. It’s not the traditional choice, “Electric Boogie,” but it’s good and I wanna listen to it!
Angelina Jolie also took to Instagram to praise her daughter’s choice of school, posting a picture of Zahara and a handful of peers and writing, “Zahara with her Spelman sisters! Congratulations to all new students starting this year. A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl. #spelman #spelmancollege #spelmansisters #HBCU.”
Apparently taking after her mother, young Zahara seems to be a humanitarian in training. In February she accompanied Jolie to the country’s capitol to advocate for the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act in the U.S. Senate. “I’m also glad to share in the advocacy with Zahara—and for her presence to calm my nerves before today’s press conference,” Jolie wrote online at the time.
Honestly can’t wait for school to start so Zahara can begin the process of taking over the world (we need her!) and Angelina can drop it to the drum line at homecoming.
