This year has seen its fair share of odd bedfellows. Don't get me wrong, we're big fans of the out-of-left field collaboration—the zanier the better! But there's something to be said for a partnership that resonates right from the outset, no explanation needed.

The latest duo to throw their (heh) bucket hats into the ring? Multitalented MC Anderson .Paak and West Coast-based sneaker brand Vans. As of today, .Paak is officially Vans' first ever Global Music Ambassador (no word yet on what the position actually entails, but, damn, that sounds like a dope résumé-booster). Earlier this morning, .Paak also debuted a self-directed music video for "JEWELZ", his latest single, to coincide with the announcement. In the animated clip, both he and his son are wearing the forthcoming Vans styles, because of course they are.

The upcoming collaboration includes an Old School DX with trippy, psychedelic uppers and a Sid DX with a black-and-white embroidered chenille design. (Both sneakers will also release with matching bucket hats, naturally.) "Anderson epitomizes creative expression and we are thrilled to officially welcome him into the Vans Family," the brand said in a press release this morning.

It's a partnership that, frankly, makes perfect sense. The musician's long been a fan of the iconic SoCal company, wearing its shoes on stage and at awards shows, often paired with some of the swerviest tailoring around. The tightly edited collection also marks a nice full-circle moment for the Oxnard-born crooner, who worked at one of the company's stores in Topanga Canyon before he broke into the industry. That's called synergy, people! Somewhere in L.A., a hotshot marketing executive is about to get a promotion. Congratulations, man. You deserve it.

The entire collection will hit stores starting in November, but you can sign up to get notified when it all actually drops via the Vans site now. It's like your mother always said: good things do come to those who wait.
