Ana de Armas has opened up about the "horrible" part of her relationship with Ben Affleck in a candid new interview, following the pair's 2021 split.
The two actors were together for almost a year throughout 2020, eventually calling things off in January 2021. A source at the time claimed that Ana broke off the relationship due to the fact that she didn't want to be based in LA, while Ben wanted to stay for his kids.
Now, Ana has spoken out about her relationship with Ben and their subsequent split, honing in on one "horrible" aspect of their romance.
Sitting down for an interview with ELLE US as part of her August 2022 cover, the actress responded to a question over the attention on her and Ben's relationship - calling the scrutiny "horrible".
She went on to add that the attention ultimately prompted her to move out of Los Angeles, saying, "Yeah, which is good. That's one of the reasons why I left LA."
Reflecting on the scrutiny and paparazzi surrounding celebrities in LA in particular, Ana explained, "Going through it [myself] confirmed my thoughts about, 'This is not the place for me to be.'"
She continued, "It became a little bit too much. There’s no escape. There’s no way out. It’s always the feeling of something that you don’t have, something missing. It’s a city that keeps you anxious."
Ben and Ana's split was first reported back in January 2021. A source told PEOPLE at the time, "She broke it off. Their relationship was complicated."
They went on, "Ana doesn't want to be Los Angeles based and Ben obviously has to since his kids live in Los Angeles," in reference to the three children Ben shares with ex Jennifer Garner.
"This is something that was mutual and something that is completely amicable," someone else close to the former couple added. "They are in different points in their lives; there is deep love and respect there.
