Just as American Idol is really starting to get down to the wire, the show is going on a (very) mini break.

The ABC competition series is currently down to its final handful of hopefuls after judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie selected their favorites for America to vote on. Now, however, viewers will have to wait a bit to see what happens next in the competition as there is no new episode of American Idol airing on Sunday, April 25.

Instead, if you flip over to ABC, you'll see the network airing the 93rd Academy Awards from 8 to 11 p.m. ET.

When will there be a new episode of American Idol again?

Fear not, Idol fans: Though you might miss the show on Sunday, take comfort in knowing that the series will be back again on Sunday, May 2 for Disney night. From here on out, it's expected that Idol will resume its normal Sunday-Monday schedule for the rest of the spring until the tentative season finale on May 23.

Right now, the Idol title is totally up for grabs. Remaining contestants include powerhouse vocalists Alyssa Wray, Grace Kinstler, Willie Spence, Cassandra Coleman, Caleb Kennedy, Casey Bishop, Hunter Metts, Chayce Beckham and Deshawn Goncalves. On May 2, one comeback contestant from last season will join this year's nine to take the final spot in the top 10.

As the competition really heats up, it'll be on the fans to vote for their favorites and keep tuning in. That said, don't worry too much if you miss an episode or two here and there — you can always watch past episodes on ABC.com the day after they air. In fact, with no episode airing this Sunday, we can't think of a better time to get all caught up!
