America sure does love blue jeans

The Daily Digit is the story behind the numbers that make our world turn. Today we’re looking the greatest U.S. contribution to fashion: jeans. According to a new survey from the Morning Consult, more than half of Americans wear jeans at least four days a week and nearly a quarter wear them every day. Levi Strauss was the first company to market blue jeans in in the late 1800s and early 1900s, under the slogan “For Men Who Toil,” but since then denim trousers have become a go-to garment for people of all socioeconomic backgrounds. In fact, jeans may be the one thing Democrats and Republicans consistently agree on — and they wear them at just about the same rate.
