Amber Heard's tone-deaf tweet urges Hollywood elite to drive home the help to avoid ICE

Amber Heard may care about the currently turbulent issue of immigrant’s rights in the United States, but she might want to give a little more thought to her statements before hitting the tweet button.

On Monday night, the Aquaman star posted a warning that there was an ICE checkpoint in her Hollywood neighborhood. She then urged her neighbors to, basically, drive home the help.

Facepalm.

Heard has been an advocate for immigrants rights. The Texas native recently traveled back to her home state to protest treatment of families at the U.S. border (even wearing a “Yes, I do care” shirt — in Spanish — mocking first lady Melania Trump’s infamous jacket).

And the actress followed (or clarified, perhaps) the tweet shortly after with more standard, non-racially charged thoughts: “Checkpoints on your home streets. … Is this the ‘great’ America we’re aiming for?” she wrote. “Raids, fences and police-state-like checkpoints don’t feel like the ‘land of the free’ our immigrant ancestors built.”

Heard later deleted the tweet, and somewhat responded controversy saying the noise was a distraction.

But the damage was done. The Twittersphere quickly called her out as tone-deaf and falsely “woke.”

Some of Heard’s fans, however, tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, theorizing that the actress’s heart was in the right place and she was actually taking a deliberate jab at her privileged peers.

Not buying that? Well, neither are other tweeters, including this one, who summed things up succinctly.
