Technology billionaire, Elon Musk, who is as famed for his relationship with singer Grimes as he is for his outer space and Tesla-based endeavours, has spoken out on the ongoing trial between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp. Musk previously dated Heard, but the timeline regarding exactly when they got together is a little hazy – with Depp claiming in a lawsuit that Heard and Musk embarked on an affair just one month after they married.

A spokesperson for Musk, however, denied this and said: "Elon and Amber didn't start seeing each other until May 2016, and even then it was infrequent. Their relationship didn't become romantic until some time later."

At one point, Musk was listed as a potential witness in the case which sees Depp argue that an op-ed Heard wrote, in which she refers to herself as a "public figure representing abuse", defamed him and subsequently caused him a loss of earnings. Heard is counter-suing for $100 million, claiming that in denying the contents of the op-ed, which she says is nothing but true, Depp damaged her reputation and opportunity to earn.

Now, Musk has taken to Twitter (the social media platform that he recently announced his takeover of, sparking concern from many) to share his opinion on the trial involving his ex-partner – and he was keen to keep his stance neutral. "I hope they both move on. At their best, they are each incredible," he tweeted on 28 May.

His comment came in response to a tweet that says: "My takeaways from Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard trial: 1. Fame is one hell of a drug (for some) 2. Psychiatrists & lawyers come in drastically varying levels of skill 3. Lying to millions of people is something humans are capable of 4. Love can be messy 5. Mega pint of wine."

Musk also recently spoke out to deny that he sexually harassed a former employee of his, a flight attendant, whilst travelling on a private jet. Reports say that the woman was paid a settlement of $250,000 out of court, via his company SpaceX.

The jury are expected to deliver a verdict in the Depp v Heard trial this week.
