Amazon (AMZN): Shares are jumping in early trading. The online behemoth posted a huge profit beat, with earnings topping estimates as well, powered by a strong holiday quarter.

Alphabet (GOOGL): Shares are dropping in midday trade, as the parent company of Google missed on earnings but beat on revenue. Investors appear to be concerned about tightening margins.

Apple (AAPL): Shares were volatile in early trading, now lower. Apple reported an earnings and revenue beat last quarter, but the concern here is iPhone shipments missed the estimates, and its guidance for the current quarter was weaker than expected.

Macrogenics Stock Drops 77% After Study Deaths
MacroGenics shares plunged 77.4% on Friday, erasing $773.2 million in market value, after the biotech reported late Thursday that five patients died in a study of the company’s cancer drug. MacroGenics said two of the deaths were deemed unrelated to the drug, known as vobra duo, according to researchers. “The cause and effect with regard to the drug is still being investigated,” Chief Executive Scott Koenig said of the three deaths on the company's first quarter earnings call on Thursday.
