Amazon Prime Just Announced Free One-Day Shipping With No Minimum Purchase

And, folks, this is a game-changer.

If you've been holding out on getting an Amazon Prime subscription, it might be time to start asking yourself why, because Amazon has just announced plans to make one-day shipping free nationwide for all Prime members. Just let that sink in for a second — you click around, getting everything you need into your cart, and then just 24 hours later, you can expect it to show up at your front door. It's not quite instant gratification, but it's freakily close.

Naturally, there are some caveats to this service, namely that it hasn't kicked in yet, and that not every product on the site will be eligible for free shipping. But the amount of products that it does apply to is expanding, and regardless, this is a major improvement on one of the most compelling reasons to be an Amazon Prime member: the lightning-fast shipment speeds. In the past, you'd have to rack up at least $35 in purchases to qualify for the free one-day shipping, but with this new policy, it will be added as a default no matter how much you're spending.

The halved shipping time is particularly good news if you're looking at, oh I don't know, some of the Allure Best of Beauty products that are available on Amazon right this very minute. Quite a few of them are under $35, so you no longer have to wait to do a bigger order to stock up on items like the Honest Beauty Magic Organic Beauty Facial Oil ($23), or the John Frieda Frizz Ease Daily Nourishment Leave-In Conditioner ($10), or even the Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eye Shadow ($24).

Now you can refresh your beauty products as they run out, without stressing over going without during the time it takes to ship or tacking on additional expenses.

In the words of Amazon CFO Brian Olsavsky in Thursday's announcement: "[This] opens a lot of potential for purchase and convenience for [our] customers,” he said. “We really think it's going to be groundbreaking for Prime customers, and we're really excited to add this capability."

He didn't add anything about the part where this is clearly all part of the company's diabolical plan to make me cancel on my plans and stay indoors 100 percent more often, but I guess we can just consider that subtext.

There's no clear word yet on when the new one-day shipping will officially launch, but Olsavsky pledged that Amazon would be laying a lot of the infrastructure groundwork throughout the rest of 2019. In the meantime, Amazon Prime is available for just $119 a year, and comes with a host of benefits including a free trial — so it's a good time to sign up now at Amazon.com.
