Inflation has meant that we're all seeing a noticeable increase in the price of our weekly food shop, as everything from milk and cheese to coffee and alcohol, has increased.

In fact, last month food prices increased by 19.2% year-on-year, the sharpest jump since August 1977, as UK households continue to struggle with the cost of living crisis.

While you may already have switched from your usual food shop of choice to a cheaper alternative, such as Aldi and Lidl to try and curb costs. There may be some options you haven't tried yet, such as Amazon Fresh.

Amazon may not spring to mind as your top destination when shopping for groceries, but it's often a great destination to find big savings on household essentials.

What is Amazon Fresh?

Amazon Fresh is an online sub-section of the main Amazon site, its whole purpose is to provide convenient and cost-saving low prices across everyday essentials and fresh produce.

With Amazon Fresh you can get groceries delivered same-day if you're already a Amazon Prime member. You can easily check your postcode to see if delivery is possible in your area here.

There are also a number of physical Amazon Fresh stores across London, for those who want a brick-and-mortar experience.

One drawback is that it doesn't have as much choice as competitors such as Tesco, ASDA or Sainsbury's. However, if you're after some weekly staples and longer shelf life products at very affordable prices, it's a great site to browse.

For UK shoppers, until 31 July 2023, when you sign up you can enjoy £10 off your first three grocery orders when you spend £60 or more. Cheaper prices and money off? Yes please.

How does it work?

To take advantage of Amazon Fresh, you simply select whether you want a home delivery or to pick up your order in an Amazon Fresh store.

Currently there are 19 stores across the UK, but we're all for making our lives easier, so we'd recommend opting for a delivery slot – there are plenty of same-day options available and all your delivery updates will be sent to your phone and email.

You can browse the multiple different virtual aisles and deals from the Amazon Fresh homepage to fill up your basket.

However, it's important you make sure that the items you're adding to your basket are Amazon Fresh products (rather than usual Amazon products). An easy and simple way to do this is to ensure that the search bar at the top says "search in Amazon Fresh".

Each Amazon Fresh product also has the word 'Fresh' in green by the price, so you can clearly double check before you add it to your basket.

What brands can you shop at Amazon Fresh?

If you didn't know, Amazon Fresh has its own range of products, called By Amazon, which spans everything from ready meals and dried goods, to cupboard staples and baking supplies. It also offers very competitive prices, with a huge range of produce being under £2.

The retailer has also partnered with other grocery brands to bring you fast delivery times, high quality food and low prices.

These include Morrisons, Whole Foods, Booths, Coca-Cola, which span a market hall with deli options, global cuisines, seasonal fruit and vegetables and an events and occasion store.

Amazon Fresh also price matches with Tesco Clubcard prices to help ensure you're always paying the lowest price - you can find its selection here.
