Hitting a janky jump in the woods with your friends is part of any young mountain biker's upbringing. It's an integral part of shaping who we are as riders in a "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" sort of sense.

To take a spill on a jump is one thing, but to slam like he did here is enough to make you reconsider your goals and values in life. That was about as bad a worst case scenario as it gets.
Despite this looking like a sure-fire spleen laceration, as far as we know he is relatively alright. That is the beauty of youth, I suppose.
If this were to happen to someone in their late 20s to early 30s, they would probably have had to go on life support and take an extended medical leave of absence from their jobs.
Bright and cheery, eh? Well, that's what all you young and full of life groms have to look forward to so enjoy being made of rubber while it lasts!
