In the golden age of streaming, you would think there's enough room for Baby Yoda and Baby Groot to attend the same Mommy and Me classes over at Disney. Though one little cute green guy comes from Star Wars and the other from Marvel, there's no reason they couldn't be best friends! And yet? The Internet demands that they fight.

Baby Groot is currently in the news, as the talking tree was recently featured in a series of animated shorts titled I Am Groot, where the Vin Diesel-voiced alien adventures around the galaxy. As a member of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, the MCU introduced Groot back in 2014, but his popular baby form first appeared in the 2017 sequel. (We won't spoil why, just in case.) As for Grogu, affectionately called Baby Yoda, the little green guy arrived two years later and has appeared in every episode of The Mandalorian.

Naturally, in an interview with Variety, I Am Groot creator Kirsten Lepore and Marvel Studios Head of Streaming Brad Winderbaum were asked about a hypothetical brawl between the two Disney cuties. If you had any doubt, they were confident their baby could totally beat up the Star Wars baby. "Oh Baby Groot, for sure. He’s a fighter," Lepore said. Winderbaum added, "And he’ll fight dirty too."

This isn't the first instance of recent hypothetical baby beef. Gremlins director Joe Dante also got in the mix last month claiming that Baby Yoda was a copy of Gizmo, even though Yoda graced the world years before the Gremlins film premiered. The Baby Groot vs. Baby Yoda debate was even mocked in a 2020 SNL skit, with Baby Yoda taking shots at the little Groot. "Keep my name out of your little tree mouth, before I snap you like a twig," SNL's Baby Yoda jabbed.

What do we think? Well, for babies, both Baby Groot and Baby Yoda are decently powerful. Fans may want to throw them both into the ring—a Star Wars/Marvel collaboration would certainly break the Internet—but I would rather see the two become lifelong friends. They could take swimming lessons together, learn the alphabet, and even share galactic adventures. It's not like the Mandalorian and Star-Lord aren't both dudes with cool helmets who fly around using jet packs and laser guns. We're sure everyone could get along just fine.
