ALYSSA MILANO: I got sick in March. And my acute illness was all through April and it was unlike any kind of sick I've ever been in my life. There are still lingering effects, like I still have shortness of breath. I still have heart palpitations. I have, like, a high-pitched noise in my ear. My hair is falling out.

It doesn't feel like you're only physically sick. It feels like there's-- there's, like, hallucinations because of fevers. There's weird dreams. And I think it's because the brain is affected. That's why people lose their sense of smell.

We should definitely begin to shift the focus on the post-COVID syndrome and, you know, try to figure out what the lasting repercussions are. You know, doing everything I can to stay as healthy as possible and to build back up my immune system. But this-- this is a really rough, rough illness. We can't think that this is over and done with because it surely is not.

A pandemic has been treated in countries that are run by women. They've had, you know, the lowest mortality rates. They've been able to lock down and stop new cases. There's things that we can do to help prevent the spread. And I just hope that everyone takes it seriously enough to do those things.
