  • Liam Payne recently sparked hope that a One Direction 10th anniversary reunion may happen this year.

  • Liam, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Harry Styles have all re-followed Zayn Malik on Twitter.

Update: July 23, 2020

In celebration of One Direction’s 10th anniversary, the boys took to Twitter to explain how grateful they were for the band and made some suuuper-gushy posts about how the experience has shaped them into the men they are today. As if I weren’t already crying buckets of tears!!!

Zayn hasn’t posted anything (which really isn’t all that surprising), but fingers crossed he has a nostalgia-induced change of heart!

Update: July 22, 2020

It’s happening, y’all! After 219 very long weeks without a single One Direction Instagram post (*le sob*), we finally have one. In anticipation for their reunion website extravaganza, the group posted about their long-awaited 10th anniversary.

Not much else to see besides this, but I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled like a banana for posts and updates ahead of the big day tomorrow!

Update: July 16, 2020

Still no word on if there’s going to be an actual FaceTime-to-FaceTime reunion with the 1D boys *sobs*, but we’re getting treated to lots of fun content in honor of their 10th anniversary!

According to Simon Jones PR, the guys are going to debut a 10-year celebration video that will “document highlights of the band’s career, from forming on The X Factor to releasing their single ‘History,’ including clips from music videos, performances, and candid behind-the-scenes video content. And of course the special relationship they have with their fans.” Exciting!!!

But that’s not all: There’s also going to be a 1D anniversary website. “The site will take the form of a timeline charting the history of the group, from the first audition right up to the start of their hiatus,” the PR firm shared. “It will host an archive of music videos, artwork, TV performances, behind-the-scenes and rarely seen content, all in one place.”

And if that weren’t enough to get you to bust out all your old 1D merch, Simon Jones says we’re possibly getting some unreleased music. “B-sides and rare songs, remixes, live recordings, and acoustic versions of tracks grouped into one place for fans to rediscover” are on the site as well.

TL;DR: Everything is right with the world again, it’s a fabulous day to be a 1D stan, I can die happy now, etc., etc.

Update: April 20, 2020

Liam Payne confirmed that One Direction will have a 10th anniversary reunion, but it’ll look way different than everyone imagined. Talking to Alesso, Liam said, “Most of us are in London. We’ve been trying to arrange the first group FaceTime at the moment. You can come and fill in for Zayn. Join the band!”

So, uh, apparently, the big reunion will just be a group video chat minus Zayn Malik.

Original story: April 14, 2020

Allow me to set the scene: You’re late-night scrolling on Twitter dot com to catch up on some quality quarantine memes when suddenly—you glance at the trending topics section and see three fateful words on your screen…One. Direction. Reunion. Nope, you’re not dreaming—this is real life!

Former Directioners were instilled with the hope of a One Direction 10th anniversary reunion thanks to Liam Payne, who dished some juicy details in a recent interview. “We’ve got a 10-year anniversary coming up, so we’ve all been speaking together a lot over the last few weeks, which has been really nice,” he told The Sun last week. “There’s a number of different things that we are all working on to try and make happen and people are forwarding emails around.”

Liam also talked about the possibility of celebrating the milestone during an interview with James Corden. Liam said, “I’m not allowed to say too much, obviously, because I’d be giving it away. But we’ve been speaking a lot more at the moment,” which sounds iffy at first, but remember—it’s not a no!

“I think that we’re all feeling that that 10-year is a very special moment,” Liam continued, adding that he had a “beautiful” FaceTime call with Niall Horan recently and another chat with Louis Tomlinson. “Yeah, it’s been really nice, it’s a nice moment.”

If that didn’t sound hopeful enough to you already, get a load of this: Liam, Niall, Louis, and Harry Styles have all re-followed Zayn Malik on Twitter. Zayn, of course, has not reciprocated the gesture (or returned any of the guys’ phone calls, allegedly), but hopefully he will change his mind and get on board!

If you’re wondering what this reunion will include, fans can expect either a new single or a television special at the very least, according to a Page Six report. Don’t get your hopes up for a world tour though.

In the meantime, I will be enacting a prayer circle in Zayn’s honor so he can be inspired to rejoin the band. Ciao!
