We Almost Missed Kate Middleton’s New Diamond Ring

Kate Middleton just wore a brand-new diamond ring on her right hand, and we (almost) missed it.

Last night, the Duchess of Cambridge, 37, attended Queen Elizabeth’s annual Diplomatic Corps Reception at Buckingham Palace alongside her husband, Prince William. Middleton wore a never-before-seen accessory opposite her engagement ring, which might surprise some royal aficionados.

You see, Middleton is known for having simplistic hand jewelry. So much so that she rarely wears anything other than her sapphire sparkler, which she stacks with her wedding ring and an eternity band.

But that wasn’t the case at the queen’s get-together. On her right hand, Middleton debuted a brand-new diamond ring, which features a large stone surrounded by a cluster of diamonds.

This is the first time we’ve seen the duchess wear the sparkler. Although we don’t know if it’s borrowed or if she owns it, we can’t deny that it perfectly complements her sapphire engagement ring.

During the event, Middleton wore a gorgeous navy-blue velvet gown by Alexander McQueen. She accessorized the look with the Lover’s Knot tiara, a blue-and-gold sash and her Royal Family Order brooch. Other attendees included her father-in law, Prince Charles, and Camilla Parker Bowles.

The duchess left her three children—Prince George (6), Princess Charlotte (4) and Prince Louis (1)—at home with her mom, Carole Middleton, who was seen leaving the royal’s home at Kensington Palace shortly after the event.

Leave it to Kate Middleton to prove that two massive rings are better than one.
