Alicia Silverstone has revealed she still shares a bed with her 11-year-old son and she doesn’t care what other people think.

The Clueless actress, 45, co-parents son Bear with musician ex-husband Christopher Jarecki.

Appearing on The Ellen Fisher Podcast, she candidly discussed her parenting choices and her close bond with her son.

“Bear and I still sleep together,” Silverstone said. “I’ll be in trouble for saying that and I don’t really care.”

Offering an analogy, she explained: “If you were in any kind of wild setting where there are wild animals, if you put your baby over there your baby is going to get eaten. So it’s not ideal for the baby to be over there.”

The Babysitters Club star described herself as a “natural and loving mama” and she said she has never raised her voice at her son.

“I’m a natural mama, and I’m a loving mama. I believe in love, I believe in nature and our society is scared of nature and love,” she explained.

She also recalled her unique approach to toilet training Bear when he was just six months old.

Rather than using nappies, Silverstone would call on her intuition to know when her son needed to go to the toilet – known as “elimination communication”.

She said after a while, Bear was able to take himself to the toilet when he felt the urge

“The queues part for me was really fun because I thought that he was flirting with me because he would do this little smile. That’s when he had to pee.” She added.

“It’s so awesome. It’s so easy. When I was done feeding him, he would go to the bathroom in the toilet. When he woke up from a nap, he went to the bathroom.”

She claimed her son “never went poop in a diaper again after eight months”.
