  • Alex Morgan has been married to her husband, Servando Carrasco, since 2014.

  • While Alex plays on the U.S. women's soccer team, Servando is a midfielder for Fort Lauderdale CF.

  • Alex Morgan and the U.S. women's soccer team are now competing at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Olympics soccer star Alex Morgan is as amazing as they come on the soccer field. To date, the forward has 110 goals in her name and 44 assists. She was the youngest player on the national team during the 2011 World Cup and helped score a gold medal for team U.S.A. in the 2012 Summer Olympics. It's no mystery why the MLS refers to her as "the most recognized American soccer player of her generation." Since soccer is such a huge part of Alex's life, it makes sense that she ended up falling in love with Servando Carrasco, a midfielder for Fort Lauderdale CF.

But their story begins well before Servando and Alex were huge names in the world of sports. The pair first met while they were both playing soccer at the University of California, Berkeley. While representing the Golden Bears, Servando made senior co-captain, and Alex consistently led her team to the N.C.A.A. Tournament.

In 2011, Servando was drafted to the Seattle Sounders, while Alex went to the Western New York Flash. On top of that, Alex played in her first World Cup that year and scored her first goal in a semi-final match against France.

Despite playing on opposite ends of the country, their love remained strong. And in December 2013, Servando decided to pop the big question. As Alex told The Knot, Servando had the cutest plan in place when he proposed in Manhattan Beach, California.

"We rode our beach cruisers to my dad's house to celebrate and have champagne with our family and friends," Alex told the outlet. "We had spoken about what kind of engagement ring I wanted before the proposal, but I wasn't really set on a specific style."

On New Year's Eve in 2014, Alex and Servando made it official and tied the knot at Rancho Dos Pueblos in Santa Barbara, California.

“We are both so happy, grateful, and excited to start our lives together as Mr. and Mrs. Carrasco,” Alex said to People. “I truly married my best friend.”

After getting married, both of their careers continued to soar. For a while, Alex and Servando were lucky enough to play in the same city – Alex was on Orlando Pride and Servando was with Orlando City. But in 2017, Servando's contract option was declined, and he was drafted to the L.A. Galaxy. While it made things harder for their marriage, both athletes realized it was a sacrifice they had to make for their careers.

“It’s far from ideal to be that far from your wife,” Servando told Pro Soccer USA in 2018. “We know that this is temporary. We’re only going to be able to play professional soccer for five to six more years. We’ve got to take advantage of this, and know that when we’re done playing, we’re going to be together.”

Now, Alex still plays in Orlando and Servando is in Fort Lauderdale. On May 7, 2020, Servando and Alex welcomed their first child, a daughter named Charlie Elena, into the world.
