The University of Central Florida Knights can claim they are the true national champions all they want … unless someone from Alabama is listening.

UCF has refused to accept what happened in the National Championship game, in which the Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Georgia Bulldogs 26-23. Despite being the only team in the nation to go undefeated, UCF did not make the college playoffs.

Since then, the school has been fighting back, claiming they are the true national champs. At first, it seemed to be tongue-in-cheek. As the weeks passed, UCF seemed a little more serious about that title.

The movement came to a head Wednesday, when the school held a celebration on their field in front of all their fans. Athletic director Danny White even said UCF will hoist a national championship banner.

That may have been a step too far for Alabama running back Damien Harris. Once he saw UCF’s pictures, he couldn’t help but remind them that they are missing a key item if they want to be national champs.

Ouch. That one hurts. UCF can celebrate all they want, but Harris can hoist the trophy.

The lesson here — for both college football players and people on social media — if you try to bring down Damien Harris, you’re probably going to miss.
