Alabama LB Mekhi Brown punches Georgia player, goes after staff member on sideline

Alabama’s Mekhi Brown lost his cool in the third quarter of the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

After Alabama cut the Georgia lead to 20-10, the Tide kicked off to the Bulldogs and Brown, a backup linebacker, got into it with Georgia’s Wyatt Payne after the whistle. Brown threw a punch at Payne and was given a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

Brown was heated when he got to the sideline and received an earful from coach Nick Saban.

Brown was still fired up and appeared to go after an Alabama staff member. He had to be restrained by a teammate.

Brown is really lucky he was not ejected. And sure enough, he was back on the field on kickoff coverage in the fourth quarter. He made a tackle that was not exactly textbook form.

It got the job done, though.
