Alaska Airlines Is Offering Early Boarding to People Wearing Ugly Holiday Sweaters

If you thought that hideous pullover with (literal) bells and whistles was just for your friend’s annual ugly holiday sweater party, think again.

For the third year running, Alaska Airlines will be celebrating “National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day” (yep, it’s a real thing) on Friday, December 20 by offering early boarding to any travelers wearing “festive holiday sweaters.” And if you find yourself lacking in unattractive holiday knitwear, the airline is also selling a wintery Alaska Airlines-specific design you can purchase online for just $30.

More than that, however, Alaska Airlines will also be decking the halls terminals and airplane cabins with festive decor, playing holiday music during the boarding process and offering a selection of free holiday in-flight movies to ensure you have a holly, jolly flight. The airline's in-terminal Alaska Lounges will also be serving a new lineup of cheery beverages (think snowflake-sprinkled lattes and peppermint mochas) throughout ski season, including a special hot toddy only available on National Ugly Christmas Sweater day.

The one-day priority-seating promotion will be happening across Alaska Airlines' 115-city network and also includes flights operated by Horizon Air.

Sure, you may not love the idea of wearing a tinsel-covered sweater with flashing LED lights to the airport, but hey, early boarding is pretty damn sweet. Oh, the things we do for love extra overhead compartment space.
