Aimee Lou Wood had a heartwarming response to Sex Education co-star Emma Mackey's BAFTA win, after she scooped up the award in the category they were both nominated in.

The pair both got nods in the EE Rising Star Award shortlist, which seeks to highlight the best up and coming talent across the acting world. Naomi Ackie, Daryl McCormack and Sheila Atim were also nominated.

The fan-voted award was one of the last to be announced during Sunday night's ceremony [19 February], with last year's winner Lashana Lynch naming Emma winner. As she took to the stage, Aimee blew kisses at her and mouthed "love you", cheering aloud, while Emma said in her acceptance speech, "Hi, Aimee!"

It was a heartwarming moment for the stars, which Sex Education fans on Twitter were obsessed with. "Aimee Lou Wood cheering so loud for Emma Mackey when she won her BAFTA," one person noted, while another put, "Stopppp Aimee crying at Emma winning the Bafta she’s so me!"

Others added, "Aimee being so proud of Emma makes me want to sob #BAFTA" and "Aimee cheering so loudly for Emma when she won the Bafta that they were both nominated for let me cry."

Fans are comparing it to a moment from 2021's ceremony, when Emma was over the moon for Aimee winning the Best Female Performance in a Comedy Show for her role as Aimee in Sex Ed:
