Abby Lee Miller unexpectedly had to leave Dance Moms during the Aug. 19 episode to be there for a friend. Abby explained that her good friend Diana Kaz's heart had stopped and, after being shocked seven times by the defibrillator, she was placed in a medically induced coma. It was super scary, and no one could blame Abby for rushing to be at Diana's side during that time. Abby actually left right after the solo acts performed and didn't see the group dance, but it did win first place so that had to have been good news for Abby to receive while she was at Diana's bedside.

For Abby, it was especially important for her to be there for her friend, because Diana had done the same for her when Abby was sick. Diana was by Abby's bedside during a near-death experience and throughout Abby's rehabilitation process. When Abby left to go see Diana, she was still in a coma — but Diana's friends and family were hoping that Abby being there would perhaps help her come out of it.

The good news is that Diana did come out of the coma, and she seems to be recovering well. Diana, who has been Abby's hairdresser and makeup artist in addition to being her friend, is also JoJo Siwa's personal hairstylist and makeup artist, according to Diana's Instagram. Diana took to the social media site recently to post about her health struggles in advance of the episode.

"Sometimes things can happen and change Your whole life. Thank God I got a second chance..wanted to thank all my family and friends for being right next to me every min... I love all of you guys and blessed to have everyone in my life ... And all my amazing doctors thank you for not giving up on me," she captioned a throwback photo of her in the hospital alongside the hashtags #idied and #iwillfight.

Dance Moms began filming in January 2019, and Diana fell ill during filming. She didn't post much about her hospital stay on Instagram at the time, aside from later posting a photo of a book called The How Not To Die Cookbook. So it seems that she may have changed some of her eating habits after the heart issue. Besides that, Diana mostly just went back to posting about her work as she healed. She even went back on tour with JoJo in July.

It was obvious from Abby's reaction to the news that Diana's health issue was a serious one. She could barely hold back tears when she explained the situation to the girls and moms, and Abby dropped literally everything to go be with Diana. In the end, Diana got a second chance at life and she seems to be wholeheartedly embracing it. Some of the other Dance Moms girls voiced online that they were equally glad that Diana pulled through. "Your a true fighter D! I love you so much!" GiaNina wrote on Diana's hospital photo. Pressley added several heart emojis.

During the episode, choreographer Gia Martello asked the girls to perform well in the group dance to make Abby proud even though she wasn't there, and to dance their best for Diana as well. They ended up placing first which likely would have made both of them very proud.
