94-year-old has the sweetest reaction to finding out her granddaughter likes girls

If only coming out to family members could be this easy for everyone.

Hayley Kiyoko, whose fans have bestowed on her the nickname “Lesbiαn Jesus” for her pop anthems celebrating and exploring LGBT relationships, shared an email she received from her grandmother, which Kiyoko shared via screenshot in a tweet, that is giving the internet all the feels.

The email is most likely referencing Kiyoko’s newest music video, for the single “Curious,” off her debut album Expectations. In it, a woman shows up to a party to meet a man, but her ex, played by Kiyoko, is there as well. The video ends with Kiyoko and the woman making out in the bathroom, which is how Kiyoko’s grandmother was seemingly tipped off that she likes girls.

People on social media are loving the honest email.

Kiyoko told Billboard that the “the whole point of doing the [“Curious”] video was [that] growing up there was no content that was hopeful. Every video or movie that I watched that involved any kind of romantic story between two women ended in suicide. Or made me feel terrible about liking girls. So I felt like I needed to do something that ended on a positive note, because there is hope and I need to spread that.”
